Museum island is a cultural hub known for housing artifacts of the arts and sciences. The island was designed to harbor this knowledge while also displaying it for the general public. I took my inspiration from these two points, emphasizing the importance of not only the sciences but the common right to education; as the two go hand-in-hand.
So from this, the idea of human anatomy came to me; I was drawn to the organs at first, trying to connect a line from Museum island to the heart but I found that bones made more sense in this context. Your spine allows you to sit, stand, walk, twist, bend, etc –necessary functions to live a healthy life. Museum island allows for the joining of people, the spread of knowledge, the growth of community –necessary functions to perpetuate, to evolve life. And similar to how the spine connects different parts of the musculoskeletal system, Museum island connects sections of time through its design.
