My earlier designs are disconnected from my intent; I found there was too much of a jump between my conceptual sketches and the physical plans I had made. It was far too simplified, erasing the characteristics that made my design make sense in the first place. For example, the so-called “joints” of the spine, or each floor piled into a uniform stack rather than interacting layer by layer. My original plans had no muscle, no tissue between the bone and skin; in the architectural context, it had no space, it was a gridded system of walls.
